Pine Hill People

Pauline Vos (Polly) is a
Community Center dynamo.

Artist, cook, community center board member, nonagenarian, friend--she has been a source of wonder and joy to everyone at the Center and in Pine Hill. Polly was a production artist from New York City, where she worked with her husband. She trained at just about every art school in NYC, and she brings a wealth of talent and expertise to everything she touches.
Polly moved to Pine Hill about 8 years ago from Highmount, and quickly became an active member of the Community Center.

Polly makes watercolors and paintings, books, greeting cards and gift items. Her greeting cards cover almost every occasion and in a range of themes. Her mind is always at work, exploring every corner of her conversations with others and bringing them into her work. She’s an accomplished hand-letterer, and many of the signs around the center are by her hand.
Polly enjoys brainstorming with Florence Hamling over ways to light fires under the citizenry. She came up with the graphic for the Saturday morning coffee-and-cake get-together “Coffee’s Ready,” a weekly event that brings folks together to talk about whatever might be going on in the hamlet and the community. It’s a great gathering place to swap ideas, and to meet others from the hamlet and farther afield.
